Message from the Honorary Consul
Welcome to the website of the Consulate of the Republic of
Macedonia and the Macedonian- Western Australian Business and
Economic Forum. The purpose of the website is to provide quality
information on the business and investment opportunities in
Macedonia for the Western Australian business community.
In this website you will find continuous information on the Republic
of Macedonia, a country whose political and economic landscape has
changed rapidly from the 1990’s. These changes have attracted
widespread interests in Australia and elsewhere in the world.
International interest in Macedonia has grown mainly because of the
unique history of peace and stability. Other factors that have
contributed to international interest include natural resources,
natural habitat with rich flora and fauna and the unique and
historic culture of the Macedonian people.
The new policy of the Macedonian Government to position Macedonia as
the Singapore of Europe has attracted many Western Australian
companies in expanding their operations in Macedonia as the new
gateway to Europe.
The ever increasing number of Australian tourists visiting Macedonia
is evidence of a welcome upsurge of interest in Macedonia. In 2007
about 10,000 Australians visited Macedonia. Western Australian
companies have seized this opportunity to develop and expand their
business operations in the tourism sector.
We take this opportunity to invite West Australian companies to
benefit from the business attractions in mining, tourism,
agriculture and the infrastructure development, where many foreign
businesses are already making handsome profits.
Traditional strengths by Australian companies in these sectors give
Australian businesses a comparative advantage. The rich mining
sector has attracted some Western Australian companies to acquire
exploration rights in Macedonia, where they find seismic data
collected very exciting.
